What is Cloudways?

Cloudways is a platform-as-a-service and you can choose how much you need. They offer managed hosting solutions for WordPress websites, with custom-built infrastructure in the cloud.

The company was founded by two web developers and set out to create an affordable, reliable option for any size business looking to get into the game of website management.  It is a “one-stop shop” that enables users to host their site on servers built specifically for WordPress sites – all while being able to scale up as needed without worry about downtime or performance issues.

How Cloudways works?

Cloudways works like a “checking account” for your website.  You can start with the smallest package and scale up as needed – so you don’t have to worry about overspending on resources that you might not need at this time to avoid any downtime or slow loading times.

Pricing and Payment Options:

Cloudways pricing is based on what package you choose – starting at $10/month.  They offer many payment options, including PayPal and Stripe (which have lower processing fees).

Every provider has a minimum of 10 plans, with the cheapest starting at $10/month.

Features of Cloudways:

  1. Allows you to choose your version of PHP and define PHP settings.
  2. Allows you to choose from a variety of cache options.
  3. Provides one-click installation for popular PHP versions like WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla, and easy management and updating.
  4. Includes backups with an intuitive dashboard that allows you to restore your site in case it’s been deleted or corrupted beyond repair by bugs or hackers.
  5. Let’s you use SSL certificates via Let’s Encrypt on all websites without any compromises on speed, traffic limit, bandwidth cap, etc.
  6. Cloudways offers unlimited hosting sites at $60 per month (billed annually). Other than the price difference between shared hosting ($18/month) and other providers’ pricing models ($30-$100), Cloudways is not much different.
  7. As a cloud-based web hosting provider, Cloudways’ uptime is impressive with an average of 99.94% (up from the industry standard of 97%) and no reported downtime
  8. Provides a detailed overview of your server’s resources, including CPU usage, RAM utilization, disk space allocation, etc., in a single dashboard
  9. Cloudways runs on Google Cloud Platform for its servers – which is great because it means that even if one region goes down or gets attacked by hackers, you’re still protected.

Pros & Cons of Cloudways :

Pros:

Flexibility:

Cloudways is fully customizable and allows you to make your server’s size, location, and even OS any way that doesn’t conflict with the company’s policies

Fees:

The pricing model of Cloudways may be different from other providers but it still falls below average

Performance:

We can say for a fact that their performance was impressive. It seems like they’re one step ahead in terms of performance so far

Monitoring tools:

Their monitoring tool offers detailed overviews about CPU usage, RAM utilization, disk space allocation, etc. This will help diagnose problems easier if anything goes wrong. In addition to this, we noticed another important benefit – Cloudways runs on the Google Platform (this means all data is encrypted).

Cons:

Support:

It is difficult to contact them, and most of the time we are left waiting with no one answering.

Not the easiest to use:

Although the interface is simple enough to figure out, it’s not as easy to use.

Pricing:

The pricing can be seen as high for some people (though nothing surprising in this industry)

Is there a free trial of Cloudways?

Cloudways offers a 14-day free trial. For that, you’ll need to sign up for an account and select the “Free Trial” plan as your preferred hosting type. The only thing is you can’t use it on any of their SSD servers, so make sure to choose either ‘Basic’ or ‘Enhanced’ Hosting types if you want to get some speed out of this service!

Conclusion:

After testing Cloudways, I can say the performance was overwhelming. I do recommend you all to give it a try!

Though there’s room for improvement (such as lower prices) overall everything looks good so far. It would also be great if their customer support was better since sometimes you’ll get no response from reps when contacting them via live chat or phone calls.

All in all, what makes us want to choose Cloudways again is its intuitive interface that means it’s easy to use.

We recommend giving them a try! Overall, Cloudways doesn’t seem to disappoint.
